Artist Talking: Mark Beldan

27 June 2015, 2:30pm

In his first talk at MOSTYN, Mark Beldan currently showing in MOSTYN Open 19, will talk about his recent work and some of the influences that have shaped his paintings. He will be discussing the offhand ways he has stumbled across painting and contemporary art: on television, on record covers, in a magazine, or online, with the aim to discuss; 'Is it possible to reflect this erratic process when putting together an exhibition?'

Mark Beldan was born in Canada in 1976. He studied at both Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. His paintings explore neglected corners of familiar neighbourhoods, and the uncomfortable narratives that linger around these places. The work has been exhibited internationally with a growing focus on placing the paintings in unconventional gallery spaces. Two of Mark’s paintings were selected for MOSTYN Open19. He lives and works in London.
