Inspired by our exhibition programme this masterclass will explore themes of war and conflict through the cyanotype process.
£48 / £40 MOSTYN Friends (materials included)
The Cyanotype process, creating photographic images without a camera, is particularly apt for exploring these exhibitions. It is not reliant on complex equipment and can be used ‘in the field’ as Anna Atkins did in 1843 to record plant specimens. The monochrome blue colours produce haunting images with both natural objects, as well as text or photographic negatives, thus enabling the creation of personal ‘archival’ collections and journals. Explore the process in this one day workshop in the studio using a range of materials on watercolour paper, and later build this into a journal.
