7 July - 9 September 2012

A transformed aeroplane will nest on the promenade in Llandudno following a journey across the length of Wales that started from Swansea. A mobile art space, social sculpture and travelling time capsule, throughout its journey Adain Avion will ignite the imagination through an adventurous array of sporting and cultural activity.

The project, under the inspirational lead of artist Marc Rees is Wales’s contribution for Artists Taking the Lead as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Mostyn is very proud to be part of this exciting event by hosting Cysgod, a project by Carwyn Evans, which is part of the celebrations in Llandudno.

Taking the form of a modern replica of the traditional beach shelters that line the promenade in Llandudno, Carwyn Evans’s installation Cysgod, which translates as both ‘shelter’ and ‘shadow’, will house a contemporary moving image series of the town’s residents and visitors this summer. Commissioned by Adain Avion, which is part of the London 2012 Festival and Cultural Olympiad, Cysgod will invite people to be pictured as they stand looking out to sea forming the basis of the new artwork that invites thoughts to ground and take flight; arrive and depart.
