PORTFFOLIO Young Artist Development Programme
Are you aged 14-18 and aspire for a career in the visual arts?
***Call for applications for PORTFFOLIO have been extended to Sunday October 10th at 5pm***
We are looking for 15 young artists aged 14-18 to take part in our FREE new young artists programme at MOSTYN.
Funded by Arts Council Wales, PORTFFOLIO is a series of hands-on, creative workshops, exhibition tours, talks and discussions with professional artists and the MOSTYN team. As part of PORTFFOLIO, you will receive:
• Mentoring with professional artists.
• In-depth tours and behind the scenes insight of MOSTYN and it’s exhibitions.
• Be part of a group of likeminded young creatives supported by MOSTYN’s team.
• Build a portfolio of new work; developing your skills and confidence in making art through a variety of creative workshops.
• Materials and equipment to take part.
• Valuable insight into careers in contemporary art and the creative industries.
You don’t need to be taking art for GCSE or A-Level, and we welcome applications from young people from all backgrounds, you just need to be:
• Aged 14-18
• Have a passion for contemporary art and/or design.
• Be a creative thinker
• Aspire to a future in the creative industries
• Must be able to attend all of the sessions.
Term 1 will take place online during the October 2021 half term, followed by Term 2 over February 2022 half term.

The selected young artists will be notified on 13th October. Spaces on the programme are limited to 15 young artists to take part this time, but please don’t worry, we will have other opportunities available should your application not be chosen.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Sarah Ryder
Sarah Ryder lives and works in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Informed by concepts of imperfection, impermanence, and spontaneity, her process is playful and experimental, making works that hover between painting and sculpture. She gained a BA in Fine Art Painting at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, 2000, and an MFA Painting, Slade School of Fine Art, London, 2008.

Paul Kindersley (b. 1985, Cambridge, UK), graduated from Cambridge Regional College, before studying Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design. Kindersley is an artist working across performance, film, drawing and storytelling. His work plays with notions of identity, beauty and self-expression, in works that traverse and blur the worlds of fashion, art and media. His latest work is a feature film called The Burning Baby, a surreal psychological horror fairy-tale that investigates our relationship to landscape, identity, family, sexuality and death.
