Misha Shengelia
Georgian artist Misha Shengelia’s engagingRoyal Mail series of small paintings where he casts a sardonic eye over the the doings of the world in postcard-like images filled with irony and black humour.
All is grist to the mill of Shengelia’s free-ranging imagination: ‘reinterpretations’ of old and modern masters are mixed in with incisive commentary on culture and events in world politics, depictions of famous and infamous figures with witty observations on social and economic happenings in Russia, America and Europe. Seen together they could be stills from the 24-hour news channel of some wildly surreal parallel universe.
Bruegel Boogie Voogie is a Mostyn exhibition organised with the support of Wales Arts International.
